Dry Spell

Until just now, I haven't written a word for days. You might have noticed.

In fact, I haven't done a creative thing for days. I haven't cooked anything worthwhile. I haven't been reading or listening to music or watching television. Over the weekend, I didn't cross one thing off my list. I didn't do any yardwork or clean out the garage or do any laundry. I haven't even imagined anything really good lately. I haven't had a nap. What the hell have I been doing? I'm not really sure. Goofing off, I guess. This is me goofing off.

But the wee ones are still laughing at bath time. Or so I hear from a distance as I haven't much been bathing them either. Jonathan has...

And they're making it to bed without bleeding. So I guess that's something.

It's enough to persuade me that I've been parenting to some degree of success.

Other than that, I've been floating.

So there.

You silly girl! I like to call it "coasting" and sometimes we all need to do that to keep from going bonkers.

Making it to the end of the day with no one bleeding is actually a HUGE accomplishment!! I always think back to the old days when moms had no time to do anything but wash clothes by hand and milk cows..the kids fended for themselves and made their own entertainment. And they turned out ok. Sometimes I think we do too much...

goofing off for a few days is always good to do. We all need that down time to recharge.
