Look at my two beautiful children, their heads covered in mayonnaise to treat, get ready for this, head lice.
Yes, I said
mayonnaise. I also said
lice. EEK!
Lena's itching and complaining started earlier this week, at which point I discussed it with her teacher and searched her pretty little head. That's when I saw one. A live one. Ugh.

When my inner convulsing stopped, the Spring Cleaning commenced. My house is spotless, friends. I have washed every sheet, towel, hat, pillowcase, jacket, scarf, and anything else you can think of in this house.

I also spent fat money at the drugstore getting all the latest must-haves in the world of lice removal and prevention. We did the first treatment Tuesday, additional picking, cleaning and grooming yesterday, and last night I covered their heads in mayonnaise in the name of good old-fashioned paranoia.
We should be pest-free now...

I love that your kids are smiling--you must have done a good job keeping your own aversions and anxieties out of the picture! You can skip the mayo next time, unless you are looking for a great treatment for dry hair! Keep using the nit comb every few days for the next few weeks, and relax--you are SOOOOO not responsible for this.
lice is definitely no fun.
we tried a few things when we had it, the one that finally worked was conditioner in the hair for a few minutes to keep them from moving about, then using the lice comb to get them out.
it took us a good week to get all of them, but we finally did :)
Thanks for giving me a preview of what I have to look forward to!

We went through this TWICE. No school is safe any more, apparently.
*sigh*
Good luck!
